We believe food should build strength, connection, and dignity. Our partnership with the Greater Vancouver Food Bank is the first step in turning that belief into action, beginning here at home and growing into a model that can support communities across the country.
We partnered with the Greater Vancouver Food Bank at a time when demand is rising faster than it has in more than a decade. Their team now supports over 16,000 people every week while facing higher food costs, strained supply chains, and an urgent need for nutrient dense, shelf stable protein that doesn’t rely on cold storage.
Our team worked with GVFB chefs to create simple, culturally adaptable recipes that make our ingredient usable across any kitchen, whether it’s a community agency, shelter, school program, or home pantry. With a clean label profile, 66% protein content, and a umami flavour that works in various ethnic cuisines, FORM gives the GVFB a versatile way to introduce nutrient rich meals.
With a two year shelf life, high protein and fibre content, and no need for cold storage, Maia’s ingredienst are built to support thousands of families, 160 community agencies, and 8 provincial programs. It travels easily, cooks quickly, and can reach remote communities where access to fresh, nourishing protein is limited. We’re helping the GVFB extend its resources at a time when demand is surging.
“This partnership with Maia Farms exemplifies what’s possible when organizations come together to tackle food insecurity from every angle. By combining our distribution network with Maia’s innovative SHRED protein, we’re creating a powerful model of community collaboration that supports both people and the planet.” - David Long, CEO of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank
The Nourish Life program begins with the GVFB, but the need it addresses is national. Across Canada, food banks, regional agencies, and remote communities face the same challenge: accessing reliable, long lasting nutrition that doesn’t depend on cold storage, frequent shipments, or stable infrastructure.
FORM’s two year shelf life and high protein density make it uniquely suited for more than daily food bank operations. It supports emergency food kits, disaster relief efforts, cross-provincial exchanges, and Northern and remote communities where supply chains are inconsistent and fresh protein is often unavailable.
By providing this ingredient at cost, we’re helping the GVFB stretch resources today while building a foundation that can scale across provinces tomorrow. When nourishment becomes more accessible, regardless of geography, season, or circumstance, communities grow stronger, more resilient, and better supported year round.
Food is connection, and connection is strength. Our mission is to rebuild that connection on a national and global scale, ensuring that nourishing, dependable protein is accessible in every community, from major cities to remote regions and places recovering from crisis.
We are using food science to not only create new ingredients but to modernize the systems that deliver nutrition. Canada’s food landscape is shifting. Climate events, transportation barriers, and rising costs are putting pressure on families and on the organizations that serve them. At the same time, Indigenous and Northern communities continue to face some of the highest rates of food insecurity in the country, with supply chains that can be disrupted by weather, distance, or the simple cost of getting food in.
A shelf stable, nutrient dense protein with a two year lifespan and a clean label profile has the potential to strengthen these systems in ways fresh food alone cannot. It supports disaster relief, emergency preparedness, Northern food shipments, community agencies, and school programs. It helps build resilience in regions where cold storage is limited, freight is expensive, and consistent access to protein is not guaranteed.
Our work with the Greater Vancouver Food Bank is only the beginning. It is a model for how innovation can partner with community organizations to solve real challenges, and how food security efforts can scale beyond one city and into a national framework.
As climate events, supply disruptions, and global crises reshape how we feed people, our mission is simple: make nutrient rich food reliably accessible, no matter the conditions. FORM's two year shelf life and versatility position it as a critical tool for disaster relief, emergency stockpiles, Indigenous and Northern community support, and remote access initiatives across Canada and beyond.
From large urban centers to isolated regions, from sudden emergencies to long term recovery, we are building a food system designed to endure. One that supports resilience today and strengthens the foundations of tomorrow. One that nourishes life wherever it is needed most.
